Overview
Super-compact high-speed driver for CTi galvos 6200, 6210, and 6220. The successor to the highly proven MicroAmp II and III is an evolutionary advancement that places particular emphasis on stability, higher precision, and improved usability. State-of-the-art circuit technology featuring oscillation damping, overtemperature protection, an optional power calculator for galvo protection, and balanced inputs and outputs for ScanFail boards. Very compact dimensions. All position-control circuit elements are powered by references, and all temperature-sensitive circuit sections are equipped with high-precision components. Various onboard LEDs indicate the current operating status.
In contrast to the MicroAmp III, the connectors have also been replaced with industrial-grade models, resulting in increased reliability. Power supply and signal connections are now on separate sockets.
The MicroAmp IV offers adjustment options for image size, servo gain, LF damping, HF damping, offset, linearity, and axis inversion. Power supplies of up to 2 x 30 V are possible to achieve high speeds. The PID servo controller interprets the feedback signals from the position sensor in relation to the setpoint signal at the input and supplies the necessary voltages and currents to the motor to reach the desired position as quickly as possible. The fast control loop with an integrator provides excellent dynamics with fast acceleration and deceleration ramps, which are necessary for the fastest positioning movements and the shortest step times. The damping terms ensure the shortest possible settling times.
On the driver itself, the axis movement can be inverted using jumpers. The inputs are fully balanced, allowing for ground-free control. This drastically reduces ground loops or interference. Using a two-wire connection thus also eliminates interference, as the noise signals cancel each other out. All of the driver’s inputs and outputs are available at the connector. The power supply is connected via a separate connector. Buffered position outputs for feedback to evaluation electronics or safety devices are also provided on the connector.
The MicroAmp IV is fairly resistant to overheating of the output stage. The integrated overheating protection shuts down the output stage if the temperature becomes too high, preventing any damage. To ensure adequate cooling, the MicroAmp should be mounted on a sufficiently large metal surface. The temperature at the rear of the heat sink should remain below 70°C.
