Floor Lasers

Floor laser for virtual floor marking

Floor lasers are laser projectors for virtual warehouse floor marking of walkways, traffic routes, hazard areas, parking zones, stop lines and safety zones. They replace painted or taped floor markings, stay visible under heavy forklift traffic and on dirty surfaces and require no maintenance – ideal for logistics, warehouses, production, workshops and public spaces.

Lasershop carries the full floor-laser line-up: TopFloor (ceiling or beam mount, up to 750 mW), TopFloor for busbars, FloorPoint (precise symbol projection), FloorLine (continuous floor line) and the LED projectors TopFloor LED for logos, warning signs and custom symbols. The line length calculator helps you size the optics. Manufactured by MediaLas in Germany; custom symbols and multi-unit sets on request.

Floor Lasers and LED Projectors: Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about virtual and dynamic floor marking with laser and LED projectors for industrial applications.

TopFloor floor lasers are specified for a temperature range of –15 °C to +45 °C, which covers most unheated industrial and logistics halls. An extended range down to –30 °C is optionally available – relevant for chilled and frozen storage or permanently very cold outdoor areas. FloorPoint units are designed only for climate-controlled indoor environments (+10 to +30 °C). For strongly fluctuating temperatures we recommend the rail-mount variant (TF-*-RAIL) – it compensates for thermal movement of the carrier rail better than rigid wall mounting.
TopFloor projects a continuous line – ideal for paths, driving lanes, boundaries and stop lines. Available in power levels from 300 mW to 1000 mW and in red, green, blue and light blue. FloorPoint projects a cross or a dot – ideal for showing fixed single positions: pallet slots, gathering points, stacking positions, pick locations. FloorPoint uses 100 mW green and is designed for climate-controlled indoor environments (+10 to +30 °C). TopFloor is also suitable for unheated halls (–15 to +45 °C). Choose TopFloor for continuous markings and FloorPoint for single positions.
Yes. TopFloor floor lasers are specifically designed for 24/7 continuous operation. The typical service life is 25,000 to 40,000 hours – equivalent to roughly 3–5 years of uninterrupted use. The unit must be installed in the supplied mount, which also serves as a heat sink. Typical locations: industrial halls, warehouses, production areas. FloorPoint (cross marking, 100 mW) reaches around 8,000 hours due to its higher power density – about one year of continuous use. For pure 24/7 use the TopFloor models are the right choice; FloorPoint is better suited to daytime-only operation.
Yes. The DC variant (12–25 VDC) allows up to 10 TopFloor units to be connected to a single power supply. Cable runs of up to 100 m per unit are permitted. This is particularly useful in long halls with cascaded lines or dynamic setups, where multiple lasers are switched centrally via a PLC or KNX bus controller. Practical example: hall roof without distributed 230 V outlets – one central DC power supply feeds all lasers over long cable runs. For parallel alignment of the lines, line-length limiters (TF-LLL-60, TF-LLL-85) are available.
The right colour depends on the surface and the application. Green (520 nm) is the brightest option and the best choice on nearly all surfaces – the standard for walking and driving paths. Red (638 nm) conventionally signals danger and stop – ideal for forklift-proof stop lines, danger zones and safety distances in industrial halls. Blue (450 nm) stands out particularly well on light or yellowish floors, less so on grey concrete. Light blue (465 nm) delivers high contrast for special markings such as clean-room boundaries or inspection areas. On wooden floors or natural stone blue often provides the best contrast.
The optimal mounting height depends on the desired line length. Rule of thumb: line length ≈ 2× mounting height at a 90° lens angle, or 3× at 110°. Real-world values: 5 m height → approx. 10 m line (90°) or 15 m (110°). 8 m height → 16–24 m. For shorter lines (e.g. a stop line) 3–5 m height with a narrow angle is enough. Also consider ambient brightness: in halls with very bright daylight choose a higher power (500 mW or 750 mW); otherwise 300 mW is sufficient. The TopFloor mount allows fine-tuned alignment in all directions.
Instead of applying tape or paint to the floor, a floor laser projects a line or a cross onto the floor – typically from 5–10 m mounting height on the ceiling or wall. The marking is forklift-proof, abrasion-resistant, maintenance-free and permanently visible, even under heavy forklift traffic or cleaning machines. Unlike physical markings, virtual floor markings can be repositioned at any time – ideal for changing layout requirements in warehouses, industrial halls, production floors and logistics centres. TopFloor laser units run 24/7 over a typical service life of 25,000–40,000 hours.
