TopFloor laser RED for virtual floor marking, 500mW

TopFloor Floor Laser 500 mW Red – TF-500-638: High-performance floor laser that projects a red marking line onto industrial floors—clearly visible even in daylight. For guide lines, walkways, hazard zones, and parking space markings.

  • Red floor marking line (638 nm) with 500 mW
  • For permanent floor marking on industrial floors
  • Highly visible even in daylight

Example Applications

  • Laser line on industrial floors in daylight
  • Visualization of guide lines, walking paths, or driving routes
  • Demo visualization for exhibition items
  • Delineation of hazardous areas
  • Marking of parking spaces, storage areas, or parking spots.

The compact laser unit is mounted on the ceiling or wall and projects a laser line up to 20 m long onto the floor. For longer paths and lines, multiple lasers are simply cascaded. Installation is quick and easy: screw on the projection unit, plug it in, align it—and you’re done. Once the laser projector is up and running, no special maintenance is required to ensure regular 24/7 operation. Full functionality is maintained even at the lowest temperatures, as this was taken into account during development. Therefore, temperature ranges from -30° C to +45° C are covered. This varies slightly depending on the model. Please refer to the technical specifications for the respective model.

In addition to the standard 100–240 VAC, the “normal” AC power supply, two additional power supply ranges are provided: DC power in the range of 12 V to 25 VDC. This allows for the implementation of dynamic fields via KNC bus control using relay boxes, or for the shared power supply of multiple laser projectors via a high-power power supply unit. This is particularly helpful in locations where a separate 230V power supply is not available, such as on hall roofs or overhead structures. In such cases, up to 10 TopFloor laser units can be powered and operated via a single power supply. Cable lengths may be up to 100 m per unit.

Depending on the installation and setup, TopFloor lasers are classified as laser class 1 or 2 and are therefore safe for the eyes and skin. Of course, every TopFloor device comes with detailed instructions that include comprehensive safety guidelines.

Installation and Line Length

The cylindrical housing, with a diameter of 18 mm, can be easily inserted into the specially designed, adjustable mount. The line laser is clamped in place to prevent damage to the housing. At the same time, the heat generated—which is very low in these modules—is dissipated via the clamping mechanism onto a metal surface. The line position is easily adjusted by rotating the laser module in the mount. The sturdy aluminum mount can be adjusted and locked in both pan and tilt positions. The mounting base also features a guide pin to ensure precise concentricity during the adjustment process.

If the laser is mounted vertically above an area, the line length is determined by the distance and the projection angle. With an angled mounting, the line length can increase significantly.

Depending on the application, modules with different beam angles can be selected to produce the desired laser line length. The wider the beam angle, the longer the line.

The table shows the line length at a typical mounting height of 5 m. A greater height thus also increases the line length, but at the same time reduces the visibility of the laser line.

The following angles are available for our modules:

Angle Distance Approx. Line Length
45° 5 m 4.25 m
60° 5 m 5.80 m
90° 5 m 10 m
110° 5 m 15 m

Please note: The line length increases linearly with distance.

ATTENTION! The recommended line length for the laser offered here is 7–12 m; however, these values may vary depending on ambient light conditions.

Optional

  • Cable extensions up to 10 m
  • Adjustable line length limiters
  • Power supplies with input voltages up to 300 VAC

Line angle optics: 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, 110°
Mount: Pan/Tilt magnetic mount, Screwable
Source: 12-18 VDC, 18-25 VDC, 100-240 VAC, 110-230VAC on clamp
Temperature range: -15°C to +40°C, -30°C to +40°C
TopFloor floor lasers are specified for a temperature range of –15 °C to +45 °C, which covers most unheated industrial and logistics halls. An extended range down to –30 °C is optionally available – relevant for chilled and frozen storage or permanently very cold outdoor areas. FloorPoint units are designed only for climate-controlled indoor environments (+10 to +30 °C). For strongly fluctuating temperatures we recommend the rail-mount variant (TF-*-RAIL) – it compensates for thermal movement of the carrier rail better than rigid wall mounting.
TopFloor projects a continuous line – ideal for paths, driving lanes, boundaries and stop lines. Available in power levels from 300 mW to 1000 mW and in red, green, blue and light blue. FloorPoint projects a cross or a dot – ideal for showing fixed single positions: pallet slots, gathering points, stacking positions, pick locations. FloorPoint uses 100 mW green and is designed for climate-controlled indoor environments (+10 to +30 °C). TopFloor is also suitable for unheated halls (–15 to +45 °C). Choose TopFloor for continuous markings and FloorPoint for single positions.
Yes. TopFloor floor lasers are specifically designed for 24/7 continuous operation. The typical service life is 25,000 to 40,000 hours – equivalent to roughly 3–5 years of uninterrupted use. The unit must be installed in the supplied mount, which also serves as a heat sink. Typical locations: industrial halls, warehouses, production areas. FloorPoint (cross marking, 100 mW) reaches around 8,000 hours due to its higher power density – about one year of continuous use. For pure 24/7 use the TopFloor models are the right choice; FloorPoint is better suited to daytime-only operation.
Yes. The DC variant (12–25 VDC) allows up to 10 TopFloor units to be connected to a single power supply. Cable runs of up to 100 m per unit are permitted. This is particularly useful in long halls with cascaded lines or dynamic setups, where multiple lasers are switched centrally via a PLC or KNX bus controller. Practical example: hall roof without distributed 230 V outlets – one central DC power supply feeds all lasers over long cable runs. For parallel alignment of the lines, line-length limiters (TF-LLL-60, TF-LLL-85) are available.
The right colour depends on the surface and the application. Green (520 nm) is the brightest option and the best choice on nearly all surfaces – the standard for walking and driving paths. Red (638 nm) conventionally signals danger and stop – ideal for forklift-proof stop lines, danger zones and safety distances in industrial halls. Blue (450 nm) stands out particularly well on light or yellowish floors, less so on grey concrete. Light blue (465 nm) delivers high contrast for special markings such as clean-room boundaries or inspection areas. On wooden floors or natural stone blue often provides the best contrast.
The optimal mounting height depends on the desired line length. Rule of thumb: line length ≈ 2× mounting height at a 90° lens angle, or 3× at 110°. Real-world values: 5 m height → approx. 10 m line (90°) or 15 m (110°). 8 m height → 16–24 m. For shorter lines (e.g. a stop line) 3–5 m height with a narrow angle is enough. Also consider ambient brightness: in halls with very bright daylight choose a higher power (500 mW or 750 mW); otherwise 300 mW is sufficient. The TopFloor mount allows fine-tuned alignment in all directions.
Instead of applying tape or paint to the floor, a floor laser projects a line or a cross onto the floor – typically from 5–10 m mounting height on the ceiling or wall. The marking is forklift-proof, abrasion-resistant, maintenance-free and permanently visible, even under heavy forklift traffic or cleaning machines. Unlike physical markings, virtual floor markings can be repositioned at any time – ideal for changing layout requirements in warehouses, industrial halls, production floors and logistics centres. TopFloor laser units run 24/7 over a typical service life of 25,000–40,000 hours.
